Equally capable on and off-road, new Ranger's durability, power and reliability mean it's a match for even the most difficult challenges. A restyled exterior with head-turning looks has created a more imposing presence.

New Ranger's redesigned interior also raises the bar when it comes to refinement. A host of practical features, ergonomically positioned controls and premium comfort options such as leather seating now deliver a more relaxing drive, on short or long journeys.

There's a choice of four models (from the well-equipped XL to the top specification Wildtrak) and three different cab configurations. Each offers varying degrees of space, luxury and innovative features designed to fit your lifestyle or business needs. Plus, there are two engines with either 4x2 rear-wheel drive or go-anywhere 4x4.

Exterior Design |

Muscular look - New Ranger has been extensively redesigned to create a bolder, more rugged and distinctive look throughout, from its sculpted grille to its re-styled rear lamps. So, it may act like a workhorse, but it has the looks and performance of a true thoroughbred.

Great set of wheels - The new Ranger XL comes with 15" steel wheels as standard, while XLT and Thunder sport 16” alloy wheels as standard to further enhance its rugged good look, while Wildtrak boasts striking new machine finished 18” alloy wheels.

Design and practicality - All new Ranger models have tinted glass, while XLT, Thunder and Wildtrak also include chrome detailing, and come in a choice of metallic paint colours.

A double-skinned steel pick-up box with a two-position, drop-down tailgate is standard across the range, ensuring that your vehicle will be as practical as it is great looking.

Load compartment - New Ranger’s pick-up box has room to carry all the tools of your trade, or everything you’ll need for a weekend of adventure sports. It has the capacity to accommodate a 1-tonne payload and has a versatile selection of standard and optional ways to ensure safe transportation of your load including; sturdy tie-down hooks, an integrated load rest, and (on some models) exterior rope rails. To protect the loadbox from damage there’s also a loadliner, ideal if you're carrying sand, slabs or other abrasive materials.

Performance |

The Ranger series is available with the 2.5-litre Duratorq TDCi (143 PS) diesel engine. This dependable powertrain produces responsive acceleration and optimum fuel consumption. At just 1800 rpm, a remarkably high 330 Nm of torque is produced, which makes it perfect for both towing and off-road driving. This comes with either manual transmission or an innovative 5-speed automatic transmission on the Thunder that harnesses all the power, effortlessly.

If you need even more power, the Wildtrak is available with the superb 3.0-litre Duratorq TDCi (156 PS) engine.

Driving characteristics |

Tested through mud, water, snow and desert in the most extreme temperatures, the tough, dependable new Ranger came through it all, delivering smooth and predictable acceleration, even when fully laden. Whatever your job entails, you will be able to rely on this durable vehicle.

There’s a choice of three driving modes: 4x2 for regular driving, 4x4 (4H High Range) for poor road surfaces and muddy tracks, and 4x4 (4L Low Range) for those really difficult off-road situations. Selecting the mode that's most appropriate for the conditions means a sure-footed, more agile and more comfortable drive.

Handling |

You can depend on Ranger to effortlessly transport a full load (or pull a loaded trailer) through the most challenging driving conditions. You can also rely on it to comfortably deliver you to a business meeting or social event.

There's a choice of powerful Duratorq TDCi diesel engines, either 3.0-litre (Wildtrak only) or 2.5-litre. And three driving modes (4x2, 4x4 High Range and 4x4 Low Range) combine with enhanced driving dynamics to ensure new Ranger’s capabilities on rough terrain are matched by car-like handling on the road.

4x2 or 4x4 |

New Ranger’s renowned 4-wheel-drive system is simple and straightforward to use. Just move the range selector lever to the ‘4H’ or the '4L' position to engage 4WD, and you’ve the choice of four High Range and four Low Range gears for when the terrain gets really difficult. Then, when you are back on the road, select 4x2 and press the dash-mounted Remote Free Wheel (RFW) button to return to 2WD without having to stop driving.

Off-road capabilities |

Ranger has been designed to offer genuine off-road capabilities that enable you to drive safely and confidently on a range of surfaces. The combination of large suspension arms, progressive damping and carefully tuned spring rates offers incredible traction whenever it’s needed.

You'll also appreciate the variable geometry turbocharger and high-pressure common rail diesel engine that provide fast engine response, so you can overtake or overcome difficult terrain with the minimum of effort.

4-wheel anti-lock braking system (4W-ABS) |

4W-ABS is a combination of an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). So, whether you are laden with a palette of bricks, or just carrying a set of golf clubs, this advanced system provides safe, effective braking and steering stability when braking mid corner. Plus, short distance stopping is also improved in adverse weather conditions.

Total protection |

We have equipped all models with a range of security measures to help ensure your vehicle stays where you parked it. For instance, there’s remote central locking on all three cabstyles and a steering column ignition lock.

Our Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) immobilises the engine until your uniquely coded key is detected in the ignition, so your new Ranger can’t be driven away if a thief manages to get into the cab. Each new Ranger also comes with a visible Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which means it can be easily traced.

Finally, we have added steel shielding to lock mechanisms and made sure your fuel is safe by fitting the fuel flap with a cab release.
